As upcoming projects: opera “El Matrimonio Segreto” in the role of Conte Robinson, in September (Teatro alla Scala). Opera “Il trovatore” as Il Conte di Luna in the months of October 2022, January and February 2023.

Participation in the opera Rigoletto at the Teatro Sociale di Cajelli by Busto Arsizio in the role of Rigoletto on May 15, 2022. Concert “ I invite alla Scala “ on May 9, 2022. Concerts in the months of March and April at the house of music Parma in the project “Pianse ed amo per tutti” with basso Michele Pertusi. Participation in the opera “Thaïs” at the Teatro alla Scala in February. Graduate concert of the “Accademia Teatro alla Scala” at the Teatro alla Scala on November 8, 2021.

He is currently studying at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala. He performed the role of Don Magnifico in the Cenerentola for children at the Teatro alla Scala in the months of October, November and December in 2019. He played small roles such as Amazio di Nicolao( the notary) in Gianni Schicchi in July of 2019 with the great baritone Ambrogio Maestri. He also participated in concerts on the dates of January 24 and February 18, 2019 at the Teatro alla Scala.

Baritone Jorge Nelson Martínez was awarded with the First Prize in the 2017 Cuba Lyrical National Festival and Competition. In 2016 he had been selected to participate in the quarterfinals of the 24th Edition of Plácido Domingo’s prestigious Operalia Competition. He was also honored with the Gran Prix in 2015 Musicalia National Competition of the University of Arts, and other awards include both the First Prize and Prize of the Radio for the Best Performance of a Cuban Zarzuela Aria, in the 2014 National Competition for Young Opera Singers.

Mr. Martínez made his professional debut at Holguin Lyric Theater in 2013 in Amalia Batista. He has performed in many concerts, Cuban and Spanish zarzuelas, operettas and operas` scenes. Last season, Mr. Martínez performed Vidal in Luisa Fernanda. In 2015 he played the leading role in La Corte de Faraón. Previously, he also worked with the conductor Walter Themel (Italy) and the German Artistic Director Andrea Baesler in Cavalleria Rusticana.

This season he has performed José Inocente in Maria la O, and other recent performances include the bass solo part in Beethoven`s 9th Symphony with the Holguin Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by both Adrian Sylveen (U.S.A.) and Oreste Saavedra.

His upcoming performances are Don Carlo in La Forza del destino, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Vidal in the Spanish zarzuela Luisa Fernanda, and Conde Danilo in The Merry Widow. Mr. Martínez has also been selected to perform in the Connecticut tour of the Holguin Lyric Theater` concert series, performing at the Connecticut Lyric Opera in the Spring of 2018 in U.S.

Mr. Martínez received in 2017 his Bachelor of Music Degree, in Voice Performance at the University of Arts, Cuba. Earlier, in 2004 he also took a five-year French horn course. In 2009 he was accepted at Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater School of opera in Holguin and when he graduates in 2013, he begins to work with the choir of the company. Since 2015 he was granted the position of Solo singer at the Rodrigo Prats Holguin Lyric Theater Company up to this date.
