BIOGRAPHY

Veronika Dzhioeva was born in Tskhinval, South Ossetia. Dad instilled a love of opera and classical music and so he dreamed that his daughter would become an opera singer.

Learning to sing began in the Vladikavkaz College of Arts by V. A. Gergiev under the strict guidance of the teacher Nelly Ilyinichna Hestanova. In 2005 Veronika graduated the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Her mentor was Tamara Dmitrievna Novichenko. The hopes of the teachers came true and the singer’s outstanding voice was immediately appreciated. Veronica was accepted into the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater.

The talent and technique of the young singer were also noted by the jury of all-Russian and international vocal competitions – she received awards at the Maria Callas Grand Prix (Athens, 2005), the Glinka Competition, the international competition Amber Nightingale (Kaliningrad, 2006), and the International Claudia Taev Competition (Pärnu, 2007), the All-Russian Opera Singers Competition (St. Petersburg, 2005), the M.I. Glinka International Competition (Astrakhan, 2003), the World Vision International Competition, and the P.I. Tchaikovsky All-Russian Competition.

In the formation of vocal technique and mastery of the artist the master classes played a role by such famous opera singers as Joan Sutherland, Maria Bieșu…

Critics and fans appreciated the singer’s debut album «Opera Arias», recorded in collaboration with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.
In 2009, Veronika was awarded the honorary titles «Honored Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania» and «Honored Artist of the Republic of South Ossetia».
In 2014 Veronika give the title of People’s Artist of Ossetia, a nomination for the Golden Mask – «Best Actress award» for the part of Elizabeth Valois from the Bolshoi Theater. In the same year, she received the prize «Man of the Year» of the Republic of South Ossetia.

She performs as a guest singer leading parties in the best world theaters, including: Houston Opera, Bolshoi Theater, Mariinsky Theater, Grand Théâtre de Genève, La Monnaie Theater, Prague State Opera, Finnish National Opera, Teatro Petruzzelli, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Real Teatro, Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Staatsoper Hamburg…
In August 2015 the festival named after Veronika took place in Ossetia. Took place twice in huge success. A year later, the festival was held in Moscow on the stage of the Novaya Opera opera house and also on the NOVAT stage. The festivals was a huge success with the audience and so this event become an annual. In 2020 7th festival will take place on the NOVAT stage

Veronika’s voice was subdued by the most complex opera parts: from Elisabeth of Valois, Liu, Countess of the Wedding of Figaro, Donna Elvira, Gorislava, Micaela, Iolanthe, Tatyana and many others. All critics and fans noting the filigree performance of the party of Aida. Is becoming a favorite party in the repertoire of Veronika.

She worked with such conductors as Mariss Jansons, Trevor Pinnock, Ingo Metzmacher, Teodor Currentzis, Jac van Steen, Daniele Callegari, Mario Carminati, Hartmut Haenchen … On stage she collaborated with such directors as Adrian Noble, Dmitry Chernyakov, Peter Sellars, Paco Azorin and many others …
She has collaborated with the best orchestras in the world: Bayerischer Rundfunk, London symphony orchestra, RNO, Musica aeterna, etc.

The velvet soprano of the singer and the highest acting skills are noted by all critics and even colleagues on the stage. Dmitri Hvorostovsky compared her voice with a Rolls-Royce, and Cecilia Bartoli once wrote: «Veronika, you are incomparable!»

The singer’s marvelous voice sounded at the best concert stage in the world such as Great Britain, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Japan, China, South Korea and USA.

Veronika’s richest, rare in volume, timbre and technical capabilities voice distinguishes her from all opera divas and does not go unnoticed by the most stringent world critics. The singer’s new album, «Ritorna vincitor!», Recorded last year, was nominated for the prestigious International Classical Music Awards (ICMA).

The singer’s repertoire is constantly replenished with the parties of great composers. Even in this difficult theatrical season, Veronika made debut in the part of Odabella («Attila») directed by Ildar Abdrazakov. Attila became the largest production of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater and entered the long list of the Golden Mask Award.

This season, Veronika has been a great success with audiences and critics at such important theaters as the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, where she sang Aida and Ballo in maschera, and Opernhaus Zurich, with the role of Lady Macbeth.
