BIOGRAPHY

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Vittoria Yeo is celebrated for her versatility and dramatic presence, establishing herself as one of the leading sopranos of her generation. She began her musical studies in her hometown, graduating with a degree in Vocal Performance from Seokyeong University. She continued her training in Italy, earning a diploma in Vocal Performance from the Conservatorio “Arrigo Boito” in Parma. Subsequently, she pursued advanced studies at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and the Istituto Musicale “Vecchi-Tonelli” in Modena, where she was mentored by the renowned soprano Raina Kabaivanska, graduating with the highest honors.

Vittoria Yeo gained international recognition in 2015 with her debut at the Salzburg Festival, performing the role of Elvira in Ernani, conducted by Riccardo Muti. This collaboration marked the beginning of her global career, leading to further engagements with Muti, including the title role of Aida at the Salzburg Festival in 2017.

Her repertoire spans a wide range of iconic roles, including Verdi heroines such as Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Aida (Aida), Desdemona (Otello), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Odabella (Attila), Amelia (Simon Boccanegra), Giovanna (Giovanna d’Arco), Lida (La battaglia di Legnano), and Elvira (Ernani). She has also portrayed Puccini’s Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Mimì (La Bohème), and Liù (Turandot), as well as bel canto masterpieces, including Bellini’s Norma (Norma) and Mozart’s Così fan tutte, where she portrayed the role of Fiordiligi. She has graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the legendary Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Real in Madrid, and the Arena di Verona.

Recent highlights of her career include performances as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth in Tokyo with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Desdemona in Otello at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, and Aida at the Opera and Ballet at Sofia.

Vittoria has also performed Verdi’s Messa da Requiem under the baton of Riccardo Muti with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Berliner Philharmoniker. Additionally, she performed Mozart’s Requiem at the Arena di Verona.

The 2025/26 season will see her return to the role of Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, as well as highly anticipated debuts in the title roles of Adriana Lecouvreur and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. On the concert stage, Vittoria will perform Verdi’s Requiem.
