BIOGRAPHY
Born in Palermo in 1977, she studied violin and piano before starting, at the age of 16, to study of vocal technique with her mother Maria Argento, and then in Rome perfecting herself with Margaret Baker Genovesi and later with the famous soprano Mariella Devia.
At the age of 19 she made her debut as Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro at the Salzburg Festival, singing for the first time in Italy in 1997, inaugurating the season of the Teatro Regio di Parma with L ’Arlesiana di Cilea. From that moment, and despite his young age, he became a regular presence of the main theaters in Europe and Asia while she began to collect international prizes for opera singing such as that of the Ibla Competition in Ragusa (1995), the Vincenzo Bellini in Caltanissetta (1995) and the Maria Caniglia de Sulmona (1996).
In her prestigious career she sang in the greatest theaters in the world, such as Grosses and Kleines Festspiele haus in Salzburg, Opernhause in Zurich, Opera Bastille, Opera Garnier and theater de Champs ELISÉES in Paris, Covent Garden in London, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, theater de la Monnaie in Brussels, theater du Capitol in Lyon, Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid, Los Angeles Opera, San Francisco Opera, Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, Opera by Deigu in Korea, N. C. P. A. Arts in Beijing Teatro alla Scala in Milan, San Carlo Theater of Naples, Maggio Fiorentino Theater, Regio Theater of Parma, Regio Theater of Turin, Massimo Theater of Palermo, among others.
She has collaborated with great directors such as: Graham Vick, Pierluigi Pizzi, Ronconi, R. Carsen, Laurent Pelly, Beppe De Tomasi, Ettore Scola, Dario Argento, Mario Pontiggia, D. Michieletto Etc Etc, and with prestigious conductors such as: Riccardo Muti, Nello Santi, Lorin Maazel, James Conlon, Jesus Lopez Cobos, B. Haitink, E. Villaume, Michele Mariotti, Daniele Rustioni, Andrea Battistoni, Stefano Ranzani, Fabio Biondi, and more.
In the first 20 years of her career she distinguished herself in the arduous repertoire of the lyric coloratura soprano becoming a reference point for roles such as: Olympia de Les Conte’s D’Hoffmann Gilda del Rigoletto, Violetta Valery in La traviata, Elvira de I Puritani, Amina in La sonnambula, Adina dell ‘Elisir d’ amore, Norina in Don Pasquale Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Lakme ‘in Lakme’, Königin der nacht from Die Zauberflöte, Marie in La Fille du regiment, Countess Adele in Comte Ory, etc.
She has a very large record and video production, with famous labels such as TDK, Arthaus Musik, Dynamic, Brilliant, Da Vinci classic and others.
Winner of illustrious awards such as the Oscar of the Lírica Arena of Verona in 2010, the Bellini D’oro, the Zenatello Award of the Arena of Verona for the interpretation of Gilda, the gold medal award of the city of Milan, the Nike award, etc. as well as various Career Awards.
Her artistic activity continues by exploring a more mature vocality with roles such as Maria Stuarda, Anna Bolena, Norma, the Countess of Le Nozze Di Figaro, and recently she had a great personal success in her debut in Mimi in La Boheme at the Massimo theater in Palermo.
She is also a singing teacher, and gives Masterclasses around the world as well as teaching in the Conservatory.
Upcoming commitments will see her engaged in the fantastic Barcelona Opera Rock project with music by Queen, at the ancient theater of Taormina and Teatro della Verdura in Palermo, Foggia, a Belcanto gala with the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, various concerts including one at the Dal Verme theater in Milan and one for the friends of Music in Palermo, the Countess in the Marriage of Figaro at the Bellini theater in Catania, again Mimi ‘at Massimo theater in Palermo And on tour in Japan.
