Biography

Born in Mendoza, she began her musical studies in voice at the National University of Cuyo

(Mendoza), later refining her training in London and at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany,

before winning first prize in two prestigious vocal competitions: the Musical Festivals Competition

in Buenos Aires and the Francisco Viñas Competition in Barcelona, Spain.

Verónica has developed an international career that has led her to perform in some of the world’s

most renowned opera houses, including the Vienna State Opera, Munich Opera, Teatro Comunale

di Firenze, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Zurich Opera, La Monnaie in

Brussels, Washington Opera, San Francisco Opera, Dresden Opera, Amsterdam Opera, Théâtre

des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and the Tokyo National Opera,

among many other prestigious venues.

She has performed under the baton of distinguished conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Claudio

Abbado, John Eliot Gardiner, Andrea Marcon, Fabio Biondi, William Christie, Nikolaus

Harnoncourt, Neville Marriner, and Jean-Christophe Spinosi, among others.

Her extensive discography, which includes works by Antonio Vivaldi, Domenico Scarlatti, George

Frideric Handel, and Richard Strauss, has earned her prestigious awards such as the Diapason

d’Or 1998, the Orphée d’Or Award, and another Diapason d’Or in 2006.

In 2011, she was declared Distinguished Citizen of the City of Mendoza, and in 2019 she received

the Konex Award for Female Singer – Argentina and the Platinum Konex Award for Best Singer

of the Last Decade. She was also declared “Outstanding Cultural Personality” of the Autonomous

City of Buenos Aires and, in 2023, was honored with the Bravo Music Award for Best Classical

Music Singer at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, among many other distinctions.

In January 2026 she debuted in Dubai, playing the role of Asteria in Handel’s Tamerlano; in

February 2026 she was praised by Washington Post critics as a wonderful Micaela in Emilio Sagi’s

production. Her next June 2026 performances will be in Saint Petersburg, with Tamerlano, and at

the Château de Versailles, Paris.
